Bottom line is: Starhub's speed is alot worse than Singnet most of the time (especially during peak period)

My streaming and gaming experience was utterly disappointing at times (I'm using Starhub by the way) when my latency displayed was 1200+ for those online first person shooter (incredibly aint it?) even though my internet speed is supposed to be "up-to 16mbps" (doubt Starhub will give satisfactory answer as to why there was such a huge difference in the speed)

Google Maps calculator tells me that I'm doing approximately 2.54km. Give and take a little distance, and I think it's really around 2.4km.

Bah, who needs a puny stadium to run in?

I would be interested to see your corresponding speed tests to establish proof of your point, just as I have proven my point.

Your connection being of acceptable quality to you doesn't prove that we are wrong. Ultimately, if you're not getting what you paid for, you are not getting what you paid for. If the majority of the people have experienced this, then there is something wrong with the ISP, as in this case.

Is it just me or is my Starhub connection special?
I've always been using starhub, and never had any big problems that you all say.. I am able to hit over 2mb downloading speed when I download. On speed tests I can hit over 20mbps.. My surfing has never suffered and I can surf without really waiting for pages to load..
So is it just my connection or are you all wrong?

Good for you! It's unlikely that the situation will improve, so it's better to save yourself the headache and get some other service instead!

It is clear as daylight that this is an attempt to create a political "photo-op" for the "right" people.

It could simply have been arranged as a HDB or Ministry of National Development announcement for the current round of the lift upgrading program for Singapore as a whole. The letter hinted at this (with all the claims that this is a "government program"). But no ... they *had* to make it look like certain political figures were going to take credit for it. I am particularly pissed-off at the suggestion (in some previous article) that the Potong Pasir Town Council might not have the sinking funds to pay for it. Any well-planned program would have to take available funds into account. Why bother to announce "upgrading" for an estate you know cannot pay for the "upgrade" under the terms you offer?

I have sort of given up on Singaporeans where these things are concerned. Anywhere else in the world, this forum letter will come back to haunt the government come election time. I'm not willing to bet the same would happen in Singapore.
