Explaining NaNoWriMo
It is the annual big thing for writers, on the same scale of size as the National Day Parade, but not costing as much, and not burning as many weekends (it burns everyday!)
On 1 November 2006, writers around the world, including approximately 200 from Singapore, will race towards writing a 50,000 word novel from straight from scratch. If the thought of keeping at it for a blog post terrifies you, how about averaging 1,667 words just to hit the target?
I’ll hop in the running for this great carnival, hopefully it’ll blow a blockade somewhere in my head, and let everything flow! The objective of NaNoWriMo is to write, write, and write: getting your plot hitched to the ending is totally secondary. If you are have been hesitating to write, this will be the make-or-break event of the year!
I don’t know why I am hyping this like an overdosed cocaine bunny, but I am really excited by this. Meanwhile, here are some details if you want to sign up too!
What:
The National Novel Writing Month, held every November of the calendar year.
Where:
Everywhere! All the writers can choose their affiliations, if they wish to, linking them to their local writers whom are also banging their heads on the wall for stress relief in November.
Why:
Because.
Don’t you think it is a major challenge to throw yourself into? It is probably a defining water-shed in a writer’s life, all the more so if you can get these water-sheds every year
How:
You are supposed to start writing on 1 November 2006, to hit a 50,000 word novel by 30 November 2006. Sign-ups are already open. Register now! Drop me a mail, and we’ll suffer together. My forum ID is pkchukiss.
When:
Well, you are supposed to write when you feel like it, but I think that to hit 50,000 words will require a lot of writing everyday. If you need to take a break, that equals more to write on your remaining days.
Talk about writing under duress!

And… ? How did it go?
I didn’t even bother trying. November is a hideous month for me. I have trouble getting enough sleep, let along finding time to write!
