Blogging elsewhere

You know, sometimes it is kind of hard to say what you feel when you know that people whom you know in real life are actually reading your blog. In a Singaporean society, this usually means an automatic taboo - a censoring of what you feel that may previously be plastered all over your blog.

Some people may say, “Come on, I am sure it isn’t that bad; I am sure they are just interested in your inner thoughts on them”. Well, a real-life test by me has already garned the negative receptivity by some whom I know. And as you know, a hardened freedom of speech advocate is the hardest to silence.

To reach a compromise, I have start an anonymous blog somewhere else, where I can write freely under better anonymity. I still write here, but you won’t find the nitro-pumped action that you would see on the other blog. It won’t even be under SgBlogging, so you guys would have to be pretty lucky to hit onto that blog.

Let’s see how good your sleuthing skills are :-)

  1. My sleuthing skills aren’t that great, but I’ll be keeping my eyes open. I reckon I could spot your writing style (did you know you have a writing style? You do) if I came across it. I just don’t know where to begin…

Actually, I’ve been thinking of doing something similar. Too many people I know are now reading my blog (and not even commenting, except in person), and I can’t write about them without thinking very hard about what I say, even though I don’t use names. I’m sure they’d recognize themselves, and I don’t WANT to think when I write. I just want to be able to write!

    We’ll see…

Sorry I didn’t make it down south this time. We didn’t even make it to Malacca! Maybe next time… or … do you ever visit KL? It’s possible I’ll be there again next year, around February or March. I’m planning a trip to NZ, and hopefully Malaysian Air will provide the cheapest tickets. They usually do, and that means I get to recover from family bullshit on my way home, by menas of lots of comfort eating and relaxing in a city where I feel more at home than I do at ‘home.’ What a wonderful part of the world you live in.

  2. I don’t think Malaysian Airlines provide the cheapest tickets for any haul down to Singapore - they hold a monopoly on the KL/Penang/Kota Kinabalu to Singapore route along with Singapore Air. I figure your best bet would be either the budget airlines, or a coach trip from the capital (around 6 hours ride).

We both feel the pressure; perhaps this will come eventually when your blog gets older?
